Intracoastal
Two Ibis Environmental Inc. representatives made a presentation to the BOD at the annual meeting in June, outlining their plans for riprap along the Intracoastal and answering numerous questions. The company submitted a bid of $106,860, not including fees required by permitting agencies. However, the bid did not include the Intracoastal behind Building 10 that was inadvertently left out when Ibis officials examined the shoreline several weeks ago. After the BOD meeting the company representatives looked over that section of shoreline and will submit a revised bid in the near future. Unfortunately, for personal reasons, this website was not at the meeting. It is the BOD’s intention to solicit more bids in the hope of getting at least three bids from which to choose. The BOD, which has changed its monthly meeting to the last Thursday in the month, will not be meeting in July & August.

Intracoastal? Where do we stand on the erosion problem? A committee was assigned to examine the problem and its possible solutions - but if the report has been distributed it has escaped our notice. In the Marina Bulletin of September 2002, Board President John Pilato makes mention of this report and says he believes that because of the costs, what should be done should be decided by residents by ballot vote. But he further observes that we need to investigate "the status of the dredged fill promised to us by Senator Pruitt when they begin dredging The Marine Facility at the end of Marcinski Road." Is there any further developments concerning this dredging? A further question, where exactly is our property line along the Intracoastal and would any barrier we may decide to build be subject to arbitrary removal by the Army Corps of Engineers or any other authority that may have jurisdiction? If anyone has a copy of the report made by the committee, we will be happy to print it on this site. If anyone has answers to any of the questions posed above, please email BuildingRep601@yahoo.com.
